The Deinonychus were less than three feet long from head to tail, but their emerald plumage made them seem larger. Long wispy feathers sprouted from their heads and ran in a row down their backs. (From a recent visit to the American Museum of Natural history.)

The lead dinosaur, a hadrosaur species known as Edmontosaurus Regalis, walked a few steps down from the trees. It rose up on its back legs and angled its face toward the foreign object, sniffing. It did not like the large, strange-smelling structure on the river bank. One instinct demanded flight. The herd should leave before any trouble occurred. Another instinct said that territory could not be yielded. The rest of the herd remained at the forest’s edge, motionless except for the gentle oscillations of their tails. To celebrate the paperback release of The Dinosaur Four, I'm giving away 4 copies at Goodreads! Click to enter! Goodreads Book GiveawayThe Dinosaur Fourby Geoff JonesGiveaway ends October 23, 2014. See the giveaway details at Goodreads. The Dinosaur Four now has 100 ratings at Goodreads, with a 3.93 average score. Goodread ratings skew lower than Amazon ratings (3 stars at GR = "I liked it"), so it makes sense that The Dinosaur Four has a slightly lower score at GoodReads vs Amazon.
If you haven't spent much time at Goodreads, check it out. It's a great place to find new books to read and chat with other readers. Thanks to everyone who has reviewed The Dinosaur Four! Wow - I am thrilled to have discovered Blake Crouch. Pines is a great mix of mystery, thriller, horror and sci-fi. If you enjoyed The Dinosaur Four and are looking for something else to read, do yourself a favor and check out Pines. It's a fast, fun thrill ride. Secret Service agent Ethan Burke wakes up after a car accident in a small Idaho town and spends the next three hundred pages running for his life and learning that things are terribly wrong in the community. Pines is being adapted for television later this year. If done right, it should feel like Twin Peaks + The Fugitive + The Twilight Zone. I'm excited to pick up books 2 and 3 of this trilogy, both of which are already out. Here's to the success of another Colorado author! The Dinosaur Four has received 100 reviews on Amazon!
Thank you to everyone who has written a review. I have read every single one and I appreciate them all, even the critical ones. Critical reviews are great for readers. They help readers decide if a book is right for them. I want to sell as many books as possible, but I don't want to sell my book to readers who won't like it. Critical reviews are great for authors. They help me understand where I'm succeeding and where I need to work harder. Of course, I also love all of the positive reviews and I'm thrilled that readers are having fun with The Dinosaur Four. My number one objective in writing this book was to entertain and knowing that I succeeded for so many readers has been gratifying. Quantity of reviews is really important too. When there are only a few reviews, it's easy to imagine that they might have been written by the author's friends and family. When a book has lots of reviews, it adds a level of legitimacy and makes it easier for readers to take a chance on a new author. Please keep the reviews coming. I can't wait to read the next hundred!
“With a body the size of a house and a weaponized tail, it would have feared nothing,” the scientist said. As a result, he chose the name Dreadnoughtus, meaning ‘fears nothing.’ Sounds just like the creatures that show up just offshore in The Dinosaur Four. Read about my self-publishing experience, my favorite film, and learn the meaning of the title, "The Dinosaur Four." Author Interview: Geoff JonesStephen King tries his hand at the detective genre. Like most of his novels, it's an engaging, breezy read. A psychopath commits a mass murder. The lead cop on the case retires before catching him. Neither one of them can leave things alone. Mr. King has announced two more books with the same characters. Recommended. |
